MSc/PhD Admission
The Admission requirements for our MSc are outlined below.
A first-class or upper second-class degree, equivalent of a Bachelor degree in a relevant Engineering or Science discipline. Other related professional qualifications or industrial (or Health related) experience may also be considered.
Sound English language qualifications. Even though there are no particular language skill requirements (e.g. a Lower degree, or equivalent, would suffice for enrollment), students with basic English should be proficient in Greek.
Master's vs. PhD
If you hold an MSc or an integrated Master’s degree (equivalent to 5 years studies, e.g. an Engineering diploma), you can directly pursue a Ph.D. at BCM. In any other case you’ll have to advance to a Ph.D. application, through a proper MSc course.
Entrance requirements to any Ph.D. position within our Lab are outlined in the Department’s Regulation of Studies (available only in Greek).
Please consider that our Lab is part of the Faculty of Engineering, this means that (based on your entry degree) you may be asked to complete up to 4 graduate or undergraduate courses in order to complement knowledge you acquired during your studies.
For example, Ph.D. candidates stemming from a medical or biological background will be asked to successfully complete one or more of the following:
- Materials I and/or II
- Engineering Design
- Finite Element Modeling
In an equivalent manner, Engineering students might be asked to attend following graduate courses (based on the thematology of their Ph.D.):
- Medical imaging & Modeling
- Pharmaceutical (Nano-) technology & cosmetology
- Tissue Biomechanics
Each applicant’s background and preparation, is evaluated separately during the admissions process, but you’ll have to successfully complete any classes assigned to you, prior to defending your thesis.
